An update from the Library

A Resource Centre update by Tina Jackson

It was so nice to see so many families visit the library during the Sneak Peak and Picnic which was held in Week 3, Term 1 this year. Families explored the Library and our many resources and enjoyed the chance to experience our updated facilities.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit the library we are open from 8.30am every morning for students wishing to change their books. Everyone is welcome to pop in. Parents are encouraged to join their child and learn how the Library works.

Student Initiatives

Upper Primary students Noah and Riley from Ms Eldridge’s class have organised two lunchtime programs being held in the library: A Games Club and a Homework Club.

Games Club participants have been playing Chess, Uno, Connect 4, Draughts, and other board games. Some of the younger students have been playing Snakes and Ladders.

The Homework Club allows students to catch up with classwork and finish tasks that have been set. Any student is welcome to join the Homework Club and work together to meet their goals.

Book Week

We are looking forward to this year’s Book Week in Week 5 of Term 3. We hope to hold our Book Fair with students and families having the opportunity to purchase items from Scholastic. This year’s theme is:

Read, Grow and Inspire

More information about Book Week will be shared at a later date.

Premier’s Reading Challenge

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is an annual event and continues to grow in popularity each year. This year is the 20th year of the Challenge. If students read 20 books in 2023 they will receive an extra commemorative certificate along with their medal.

Last year 364 of our 386 students participated. This is an incredible effort by our students and shows how much they love reading.

Certificates and medals for the Premier’s Reading Challenge are presented to students in Term 4.

Thank you for reading our Library Update and I look forward to seeing you in the Library sometime.
