Performing Arts & Choir Update: Mrs Chandler is back!

by Susie Chandler, Performing Arts Teacher

Hi everyone,
I have been so overwhelmed with the amount of students and staff welcoming me back after my maternity leave. Being missed made my return so much easier and I am looking forward to getting back into teaching Music Dance and Drama to my students.

This year I will be working on Monday and Tuesday and teaching the classes from Year 2/3 through 5/6, including Year 4s.

Performing Arts

So far in Performing Arts lessons we have hit the ground running with learning a body percussion routine which is being transferred to playing on xylophones or bucket drums.

For Book Week the 2/3 and 3/4 classes learnt an xylophone arrangement to play along with the book ‘Where is Green Sheep’. For the rest of the term the focus will turn to Drama.

Choir

This year the Year 4/5 & 6 students in the choir have 43 students. I would like to thank Sierra who has been supporting the choir this year before my return. Sierra and I will continue to work together with the choir for the rest of the year.

The year 5/6 choir students are working towards a performance at the Southern Metropolitan Music Festival in November. So far we have had 2 of our students selected for Solos and about to run Host auditions.

Happy Singing!

-Mrs Chandler
