A wonderful week of Winter Wellbeing on the deck

Aug 1, 2024 | class story, wellbeing

A wonderful wellbeing blogpost to read with a cosy blanket and hot chocolate…

What’s wellbeing? Wellbeing means being comfortable, healthy and happy. It includes having good mental health, a sense of meaning or purpose, and being able to manage stress. In simple words, wellbeing is just feeling well!

For the end of Term 2, the deck classes: (Miss B, Ms Alana, Ms Ehlers and Mr Josh) celebrated the students’ hard efforts and the start of winter by enjoying a winter wellbeing week. This included a range of activities to support our wellbeing. Have a look at what we got up to:

We enjoyed a warm campfire with toasted marshmallows. Some of us liked them melted and chewy whereas some of us liked them burnt and crunchy!

Tina set up the library with pillows, beanbags, blankets and turned all the lights off! We got to choose a book to read in the dark with a flashlight. It felt like we were in a cosy cabin and kept us warm from the cold weather outside.

We also chose a cuddly toy to bring in for the week! Some of them got to have a sleepover in the classroom. They joined us in our learning and adventures throughout the week.

We had some delicious hot chocolates and chatted with our friends! We described them using our 5 senses: creamy, chocolatey, warm, comforting and yummy!

Each class participated in a range of other hands-on activities such as:  winter art/craft, ice sculptures, finger knitting, board games and even toasted sandwiches!

We hope you liked reading and looking at what we got up to in our winter wellbeing week! – Deck Classes 2024
