Exciting upgrades for Resource Centre at Porties

Apr 13, 2022 | class story, school info, school news

In 2021 the Port Noarlunga Primary School Resource Centre underwent a major facelift. We are so proud to be able to share these before and after photos now that it has been finalised.

The Resource Centre is a vibrant, welcoming and user-friendly learning space accessed by the whole school.

The area once used for the desktop computers is now full of custom-built shelving allowing for more storage of books and resources. The fixed metal shelving has all been replaced with custom timber shelving units and allows for flexible arrangements.

Due to the evolving nature of Information Communication, the desktop computers have been replaced with Chromebooks for students and staff. They are primarily used for Literacy Pro. Students visit the Resource Centre and undertake quizzes regularly to determine their current Lexile level.

Desks and chairs have all been replaced with bright, colourful and ergonomic desks and chairs which certainly brighten up the area. They are designed with the option of being able to change their set up at any time.

We have new blinds, new storage, new benches, new outdoor seating, and a new cataloguing system to manage all of our wonderful resources.

Vivonne Amoy continues to provide us with themed artworks throughout the school year highlighting Premier’s Reading Challenge, Book Week, Easter, Christmas, Reconciliation Week, and Remembrance Day, along with other significant events on the calendar. Vivonne also completed some great artwork at the rear of the Resource Centre brightening up the outdoor area.

We just love the improvements and the feedback from staff and students has been especially positive.
