A stunning new mural brings splashes of colour to the outside walls of Administration and Resource Centre.
The artwork features elements designed by Port Noarlunga Primary Aboriginal students and was painted by renowned local Aboriginal artist Scott Rathman over two days (9th and 10th of August).
Scott is an Eastern Arrernte man who is a talented Aboriginal artist. He uses contemporary creative designs which are a tribute to his Grandmother who was a member of the Stolen Generation. Scott has been painting his Contemporary Aboriginal Artwork since 1989 and has worked with many communities, organisations, and schools on projects related to culture and developing the capacity of non-Aboriginal people in the community to expand their cultural learning.
Students workshopped with Scott on the first morning to create an overall design for the mural, which incorporated pieces of their own artwork designs.
We are very excited about having a piece of artwork that reflects our school’s story, our connection to our Aboriginal families, and as a school community, demonstrates an acknowledgement of our past history.
